Program Overview
Diploma in Geographic Information System (GIS) is an information technology field of practice that acquires, manages, interprets, integrates, displays, analyses, or otherwise uses data focusing on the geographic, temporal, and spatial context. Beside that, application of GIS in Malaysia is on the increasing trend especially in the environmental management field, urban planning, logging, health application matters, and petroleum.
GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.
Furthermore, this course will allow students to answer questions and solve problems by looking at the data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared. GIS technology can be integrated into any enterprise information system framework. Hence, the Diploma in GIS Program aims to produce graduates in the field of geoinformatics to support the needs in handling various geospatial-related developments of the country.
Entry Requirement
NORMAL ENTRY
- Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credit in 3 subjects including Mathematics
APEL.A ENTRY
- Possess an APEL A certification from MQA for admission into Diploma programmes; OR
- Malaysian; AND
- 20 years old and above in the year of application; AND
- Possess relevant previous working experience/ learning
