NBUC AND GCK GRADUATES, STEP TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRE OF A COMPETITIVE MALAYSIA
The 4th Convocation Ceremony of North Borneo University College (NBUC) and Geomatika College Keningau, Sabah, (GCK) 23 November 2023 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) celebrating 1000 graduates at the Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Masters and PhD levels.
#Shaping30: Reimagining Education, Talent Transformation, became the convocation theme that reflects the direction of NBUC and GCK to remain relevant as the best choice Higher Education Institution in Sabah in producing individuals who have the skills to meet the needs of the industry and create career opportunities.
NBUC HEIs with COMPETITIVE status, which is a prestigious status awarded by SETARA to strengthen the commitment and efforts to create a modern education landscape in line with the technological revolution and the global economy in line with the government's intention in the implementation of the 5.0 industrial revolution which emphasizes the integration between advanced technologies such as AI, IoT and technology robots with human expertise and innovation to drive efficient development.
Chancellor of NBUC, Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Hjh. Norlidah Binti Tan Sri Datuk R. M. Jasni expressed high and meaningful appreciation for the collective efforts of the graduates and appreciated their important role in shaping a brighter future. This meaningful convocation ceremony is not only a celebration of academic achievements but also recognition, the journey of graduates characterized by perseverance, dedication, success in overcoming various challenges.
President of the Geomatika Education Group, YBhg Prof Datuk Sr. Dr. Mohaizi bin Mohamad explained that NBUC and GCK under the umbrella of the Geomatika Group, are ready to take on the challenge of continuing to move proactively and professionally in an effort to improve the quality of graduates in order to have diverse and competitive skills to face a bright future in the career industry and job market. NBUC and GCK graduates are confident that they are holistic and technologically skilled as well as entrepreneurial in character to shape the career industry, especially in Sabah.
A total of 1000 students graduated in this Convocation Ceremony including the recipients of the Adjunct Professor Award and the Honorary Doctorate Award presented by YABhg Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima (DR) Hajah Norlidah binti Tan Sri Datuk R.M Jasni. Also present were Associate Professor Doretty R. Jiroh, CEO of NBUC, Prof Dato' Sr. Dr. Azimuddin bin Bahari, Vice Chancellor of NBUC, Puan Creastysia Cyrnus Deputy President II of GCK, Associate Prof Dr Aszlan bin Selamat, Rector GCK as well as invitations from the federal government, state government and industry experts.
At this point, NBUC and GCK are actively developing faculties and professional programs that can meet the needs of careers in Sabah, especially in the aspects of sustainable agriculture (Sustainable Farming), Green Technology, Creative Digital Technology, Sustainable Energy and several other focused programs, especially those related to oil and gas, renewable energy and food security.
The President also emphasized the role of NBUC and GCK which will continue to make a great contribution to the development of education in Sabah and intends to make Sabah the hub of education in Borneo not only at the national level but also at the international level with the latest study offers and relevance in the competition of the new Borneo archipelago ecosystem. Through this relevant educational ecosystem, it can help develop the economic sector of the state of Sabah, especially in making the state's development policy a success in line with the direction of SABAH MAJU JAYA.
Therefore, the cooperation and support of various parties, especially HEIs, industry, the state government and the federal government, is very necessary to realize the desire and achieve the dream with success and proud results.
